Four Generations of Howletts
Yesterday it was Mother's Day here in the UK — something I've never taken any notice of, having convinced myself my mum isn't that bothered about it. That all changes though when you have your own children. While it's still a little cheesey the sentiments behind it become clear and I'm more than happy to make an event of it.
Yesterday we went for dinner with my mum, spent the afternoon with Karen's then called in on my dad's on the way home. In all there were four generations of Howletts involved. Three of those generations were mums and none of them born a Howlett. It's not often we get to see them all on one day and Mother's Day is a good excuse to do so.
As a gift to Karen I ordered a Memory Book from SnapFish.co.uk, which arrived just in time. It was in a "This Is Your Life" format and packed with photos of Felix and Quinn. Karen seemed to love it and we've vowed to do one each year as a reminder of how much can happen in what seems like a short space of time.
Felix is fifteen weeks old tomorrow and continues to develop on a daily basis. Over the last couple of days he's started working on his chuckle, which is really infectious. Karen is the perfect mother, to which Quinn is testament. Quinn is the perfect sister too and now known as "super nanny". Life in our little family couldn't be better right now.
Anyway, just thought I'd inject a little me in to this geek-fest of a blog for a change.
To bring a geek spin back to this post, did you see this on digg:

Jake,
You might already done it, but make sure you get a picture of everyone from each of the generations. You will cherish it in the future. I had a picture taken with my grandfather, father, myself, and my son. Most people in my family thought it was a waste of time then. But now that my grandfather recently passed away at the age of 95 everyone cherishes that picture.
I've seen that before Niel and thought to myself "that's something I'm going to do". I just know we wouldn't though, realistically. We tried taking a photo of Karen each Sunday of her pregnancy but have on average maybe one for each month.
Richard. I do have one of Felix, his mum, my mum and my dad's mum. I wanted to post it here but let's just say it's not one of Karen's best shots and I'd be in the dog house if I did.
