Recommendations for UK-Based Domino Hosting

A customer of mine wants to move their Domino server to an external host and wants me to both manage the move and recommend a host.

The trouble is that (for legal reasons) the hosting company must be UK-based and I don't know of any in the country. Well, I know of them, but not well enough to go as far as recommending them.

Do any of you know which are the better ones and are there any you'd go as far as recommending?

Feel free to post comments anonymously or by email if you'd rather. If you have anything bad to say about any particular host I'd like to hear that too.

  1. Give Warren Elsmore a shout Jake. I don't know if he's doing a full-blown Domino hosting service, but I do know that he hosts some Domino blogs on a UK based hosting service.

  2. Jake, We have been using BlueSky hosting {Link} for over a year now and found them to be excellent in terms of reliability and support offered

  3. Hi Jake

You say Domino Hosting - are you wanting to manage your own Domino infrastructure/certs/etc? i.e. go down the route of a normal hosting company and setup your own Domino servers .... or go down the route of someone managing your domains/mail/certs/etc, etc ?

I've done the former, as I traditionally all Domino hosting companies put such a restriction on what could be done on the server, it was better going my own way.

I've just got a number of new dedicated servers from Memset for new client work we have and the guys down there are just great.

ps: you know my email addy - give me a shout if you want to share or something!

  4. I know that Warren and BE host (either Domino hosting or offer you rack space). I imagine it depends on the application and what the person would be looking for

  7. @Mark - yes "other" Domino hosting companies limit what you can do. Luckily we are not one of those here at Connectria

  8. Jake,

I would recommend Merlin Connect. (www.merlinconnect.com), they have been hsoting domino apps for me for several years. Their prices are reasonsble and their support excellent.

Your contact there is David Fowler, Telephonme 0845 0705245

There's always DDN. They have options for UK, (last I knew) but remember, you get what you pay for....(stated from experience)

I'm surprised Prominic doesn't have a UK solution for you.

  9. Hi Jake

We use BlueSky and have done for several years now - they have been excellent and I have no worries recommending them.

Jake, If prominic don't currently have a UK base perhaps there is an opportunity there ? New garage = racks of domino servers :-)

    Jake,

I can recommend Warren @ BE Systems, we use BE for Administration services and they currently host our servers for us. Worth dropping them a mail.

I've used Blue Sky in the past and they were fine. Also we have customers who use Applicable for hosting.
